Honolulu is one of the two smallest markets on this site, concentrated almost entirely in Waikiki, and unusually dependent on profiles that travel between the islands or in from the west coast. Fewer listings and a five-hour time gap from the east coast make this the city where planning ahead matters most.
This is a small market and the choice reflects it. There are fewer profiles here than in any metro on this site apart from Biloxi, and a higher proportion of them travel — between the islands, or between Honolulu and the west coast, on a posted schedule. Those dates matter more here than in a city where someone is always around, because if a touring profile’s window does not overlap yours there may not be an alternative. Allowing five to seven days rather than one or two is realistic.
The time zone catches people out constantly and is worth doing deliberately. Hawaii is five hours behind the east coast in winter and six in summer, because it does not observe daylight saving while the mainland does. A message sent at nine in the evening from New York lands in Honolulu in the middle of the afternoon. If you are arranging from the mainland, that gap is the most common source of confusion here.
Almost everything concentrates in Waikiki — roughly three kilometres of beachfront holding the overwhelming majority of the island’s hotel rooms — and it is predominantly outcall to those hotels. Incall is uncommon and more likely toward Ala Moana and downtown, where residents rather than visitors are. The rest of Oahu is residential, military or rural, and getting between Waikiki and the windward side is a real journey on one congested highway.
Rates run higher than the market size would suggest, for the same reason everything on the island does: shipping and isolation raise the cost of living across the board.

The working city, ten minutes away and a completely different atmosphere. Where residents are rather than tourists, and where the small amount of incall on the island is most likely to be.
Kailua and the windward side, the North Shore, the areas near Pearl Harbor and Hickam. Largely residential and military, with very few listings. Distances are long and H-1 is frequently slow.
Paying for sexual services is illegal throughout Hawaii. The state repealed an unusual and much-criticised provision that had exempted police officers during investigations, which drew attention at the time and is sometimes misremembered as a broader change — the underlying law did not change. Listings on this site advertise companionship and social time; anything advertising more is removed.
