Sacramento is a government town and its listings follow the legislative calendar. It is also the cheaper alternative to the Bay Area — ninety minutes east of a market where rates are second only to New York — and a number of profiles work both, posting dates for each.
The California legislature runs from early January to the end of August, and the capital fills with legislators, staff and lobbyists who are in town Monday to Thursday and elsewhere at the weekend. That is when the downtown hotels are full and when outcall listings here are at their busiest. From September through December the city is markedly quieter, and weekends are quiet all year. The session calendar is public and is genuinely the most useful thing to check before fixing dates.
The Bay Area relationship is the other thing that shapes this market. San Francisco and San Jose are ninety minutes west with rates near the top of this site, and Sacramento is substantially cheaper. Incall is reasonably available, concentrated in Midtown, which is where Sacramento actually lives. Housing is affordable compared with the Bay Area, so hosting is practical in a way it is not ninety minutes west. Downtown near the Capitol is where outcall to business hotels concentrates during session.
One scheduling note: Sacramento sits on the route to Lake Tahoe, and I-80 eastbound on a Friday afternoon is genuinely bad in both winter and summer. Anything arranged for then needs a large margin on both sides.
